1.150 Resources to Help You Write Better, Faster, and More Persuasively

As a student, writer, author, journalist, poet, or screenwriter, you know that you probably spend more time on research, editing, and proofreading than you do on the actual writing. Therefore, you might not have time to find resources to help you write better, faster, or more persuasively. This is where our list comes to your rescue, as the following links focus on places where you can conduct research, software that is free and easy to use, and services that will remove that “extra work” monkey from your back.

This list doesn’t focus solely on students, as writing consists of many genres and styles. Once you graduate from any writing course, you might venture into technical writing or specialize in essays for magazines. You could moonlight as a poet and work weekends as a freelance cub reporter. All the while, you might work on that novel that you intended to write years ago.

October Ends

by Joe on Oct.27, 2007, under Diary

I’ve been hooked on a game called Warcraft early this month, and it’s so interesting that it gradually become part of my daily entertainment. Early this week’s notifying about the failure of the test poses me a question: should i continue wasting my time or do something meaningful, something that won’t make me regret in the future. My teacher says we needn’t hurry to jump into the job market before well-prepare ourselves, since jobs are easy to find, but good jobs need not only the basic qualifications but expertise. To learn something useful while you still have time rather than wasting time on doing what you don’t want to do. I agree with him, as long as you have the know how on whatever fields you want to be engaged upon, jobs will come to you.

I should take steps to strike to become one of those kind of people by stop wasting my time in doing things that don’t related to my future development, read more not only those books that related to my major but literary works for self-improvement on temperament. But the first thing i should do is to get rid of playing Warcraft, since it starts early this month, why not end it when October ends?

Buzz EP.05

by Joe on Oct.23, 2007, under Diary

Actually, this is a draft that i wanted to post a week ago, reason why i didn’t publish is because i have thing to say but i can’t say, now i got myself a topic: Failure of PETS4!

I know i’ve been lazy to blog and that reflect my current lifestyle: lazy to do everything except day dreaming, that sucks especially you’ve got things to do but don’t wanna think about, not to mention the implementation.

I’ve read two books mentioned in this post, a shock to human beings’ inner value, weak and ugly.

A friend came to me said that he failed to pass the oral part of PETS4 agian, and next time, he has no chance but to take both parts of the test if he want to reparticipate to the test. How about me? I logged on to this site and got my score of 53, far away from the passing line. One said i’m a optimist, she doesn’t know this is just a comfort for her. How i feel about this about anything? She never know!

Still In Holidays

by Joe on Oct.05, 2007, under Diary

After 4 days of staying at dorm, i got accompany again – a roommate back from Guangzhou who had sufferred from the bad traffic conditions durning his staying in Guangzhou. There’re two, however, will not show up until tomorrow.

Also tomorrow, probably i have to hand the computer back to the owner, so there’ll be a conclusion about what i’ve done in the pass 6 days. First, results of the games i’ve mentioned – Resident Evil 4 and Need for Speed Carbon weren’t to my satisfaction, but i did prefer Need for Speed to RE4, the career mode in the game was finished in less than 12 hours, and that never happened to me, you know, i love games, but i’m not a good player, however, you might think 12 hours is still damn too long for you to play such kind of games.  By the way, i also played a game named Warcraft through LAN with my friends next doors and have joys while we were playing, after playing, we have same topic about the games to discuss, which was more likely a team building  The second thing i’ve done is like always, write some posts here in this blog for my own living, not much, but if you change into CNY, it’s almost a week’s expenses for me to eat and drink for just one or two posts a week, i’m sure the continuing growth of my blog can even create more profits, but there’s a long way to go still.

Leave the rest, you won’t like it.

Long Time No Read…

by Joe on Oct.01, 2007, under Diary

I can’t remember the last time when i holding a book, sitting in my bedroom and enjoying the sharing of the author from those words written in the papers. And now, it’s time for me to find an excuse to buy some different kinds of books differ from my major which might help to the future, that is, bucks on my Paypal account.

9036753Paypal in America is a convenience tool for both buyers and sellers in the transaction process and the money transfer to your bank account, but in China, that is not quite it because of some kind of the economic protection or? You never want to have your money transferred unless a large sum of $, it’s definitely a costly and cumbersome process. So the best choice you need to make is to spend them online, buy some books or something you like, but you know, in China… it’s really hard to…to…find a website that supports the payment method of Paypal, even the Ebay’s China branch – Eachnet, no wonder it can’t beat taobao, the largest online shops in China.

Lucky, i got dangdang, and finally, four books were deliveried to me, three of them are a series, another one is about BEC.

10·1 National Day Holidays

by Joe on Sep.29, 2007, under Diary

For most of you, Chinese National Day is still two days away, but for me, from today’s on, till October 7, are what i called holidays. I went home last National Day because of the date of moon festival was durning the holidays, and we all know that this year’s moon festival had just passed, so there’s no reason for me to spend about two days to go and back from home.

Resident_Evil_4_Leon_oyun_resimleri_posterleri_masast_duvar_katlarTalking about this year’s moon festival, nothing special actually, but our college has a good tradition that is the college will give you the something to drink, to eat for free of cause, to make you feel at home. No exception, a moon cake, beverage, an apple and a pear were given to every living person who spending their festivals in campus. Though these sweet stuff are not expensive, but at least the head of the college management think of us, at least they fullfill our basic needs to celebrate the festival, at least they know what moon festival means to a Chinese. As far as i know, no college even the college next door provide such kind of “offers” but ours, so if your college have such kind of “policies”, please let me know

I took my friend’s computer back to dorm, besides, two games are being downloaded, one is called Resident Evil 4(My Bro. said it was really an exciting game), another is called Need for Speed Carbon(My favorite race game, and i love race very much, even though i don’t have a real car), so there’ll be definitely an interesting holiday.

Just Another Buzz

by Joe on Sep.16, 2007, under Diary

I took part in PETS4 last Saturday, when we two (my friend and i) went to the bus station at about 7, saw those “PETS lovers” like me, were all waiting for the buses, a bus came about 10 minutes later and you can called it “on time”. Actually, we have enough time to reach our destination on time, but the truth was we almost got late because of the traffic jam, finally what we afraid most was not about the test itself, is about the possiblity to took part in the exam, funny right?

It’s a week after now, what i want to say is just another 3 months+ waiting for the result’s coming out. But one of my classmates told me that i have passed the oral part, i was surprised, how she knew that? Then she told me sth., then i knew sth..Don’t ask me what sth. is, because i can NOT tell you anything about this, top secret classfied :!: I have also signed up for BEC Vantage early this week, less confident, but more rational. After all, it might help in my coming job hunting days.

We (my friends and i, all together 6) went to Mysterious Island, which is a part of Ocean Spring Resort, yesterday afternoon. For me, i played all the games that i should have played in my childhood but didn’t fulfill untill yesterday, games like carrousel and bumper cars. And now, i can tell you “I went to amusement part before!”

I’m Still Alive

by Joe on Sep.06, 2007, under Diary

On our way to school, i talked about my anxiety of the graduation to one of my friends, to my surprised, he has the same feeling as me. That is we both don’t know what we can do, what we’re capable for, that is, we don’t have the objectives. He went to a large state-owned enterprise in Shenzhen, of course, on some “relations” basis. Finally, he was told that need a undergraduate degree and he didn’t have it. Even a child in China knows a undergraduate degree is nothing but a standard requirement papers amount those mountain-like documents, besides, certificates or degrees, thses are not so important now. So, you can see the requirement for my friends is very low, also, the importance of “relations”.

icd
I have passed the ICD test(I mentioned before, see 1 | 2 | 3), both the theory part and the document-making part. A little bit excited, of course, after all, it costs me 380 yuan to took part in the test.

But another test is follow on this weekend, it’s PETS4, i’m not sure whether i can take it this time, i didn’t make efforts to memerized the vocabularies, i didn’t do the simulate tests, most importantly, i didn’t speak English for a while, and now i have problems to communicate with others by using English. So, i worry about the spoken part too. Whatever i need to do, it’s been too late…

Pity…

by Joe on Aug.29, 2007, under Diary

A friend of mine told me yesterday morning that if the sky was clear enough, i would see the lunar eclipse at about 6:00 yesterday afternoon. And the sky was clear(thank god), but i didn’t even look up the sky… I forgotten the words my friend told me.

11883245533753382107035241241My friend also told me that next time we can see the lunar eclipse will be the year of 2011, well, let’s see, the moon never goes away, anyway, at least in a short period of time.

snapped by a journalist, that’s what happened yesterday about the lunar eclipse.
